... and I'm going to fly out to Phoenix to see my boyfriend and "meet the parents (and all his relatives)" on Wednesday.

Serious?  Yes.

Excited?  Yes.

Nervous?  Yes.

Freaking out?  CURRENTLY, YES.

Wish me luck~  <3

Was planning to squeeze a little getaway with boyfriend before he leaves.  We planned to go to Okinawa, Japan for a 3 days 2 nights mini trip.  Hot damn... it was more than USD1200!!  Needless to say, we got to cancel.

Soooooo disappointed.  I shouldn't have worked up my expectations...  I find a lot of the times, I tend to work up such a high expectation and dream about a perfect scenario... but then when things didn't work out or go as planned, I will fall hard on my own disappointment.

I really need to change this tendency of mine.  I got to keep everything light so when it doesn't go according to plan, I wouldn't be bummed out.

Boyfriend is now thinking of a mini LOCAL trip instead...  sigh....

I'm currently still in Vancouver, savoring my last bit of relaxation and absorbing as much "social contact" as possible because after I leave, harsh reality will kick in. I have been dining out every single day with different people in different places and I have never felt happier and free... like my old self.... when everything was just fun and games. I really appreciate all my good friends making an effort to come out to see me (even just for a quick coffee). I know they are very busy with work and home life but they have been very nice and accommodate my schedule. My schedule has been fully packed everyday. I'm going to miss all of them. I knew that when I'm back, I have to go back to work and "responsibilities" mode but I'm starting to see the productive side of it. We all need to have our positions and responsibilities to fulfill and I now see the importance to stick with them and truck through because that define who we are. Everyone seems to have moved on and it is crucial that I should open a new chapter in my life and start to enjoy it.

I have been super busy since my last blog...

These 2 weeks I have been "bombarded" by 2 of my best friends's love crisis:

One has a pregnancy scare where I was "literally" with her everyday (literally meaning texting and calling ... as she doesn't want her boyfriend to know. Why? Because this "scare" wasn't caused her boyfriend...) She ended up OK, not pregnant BUT she finally cleared up her mind and decided to end the relationship with her "mister" and be with her boyfriend. I know she is not happy about this decision but at least, she knows this will the right thing to do and I finally have some peace of mind.

The other friend has a major argument with her boyfriend as her boyfriend wants to take a break to "think things through". I told her it's really not that bad, as he wasn't even half as definite as my ex was. I told her to at least give him some time to think... then everyday, my phone would ring "WHY HASN'T HE CALLED YET? IS IT LONG ENOUGH YET? I THINK THIS IS IT! HE WANTS OUT... HE DOESN'T LOVE ME ANYMORE.... OMG... I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO... HE MIGHT BE WITH ANOTHER GIRL... YOU THINK HE DOESN'T LIKE ME? YOU THINK HE DOESN'T LOVE ME ANYMORE? YEAH, I THINK THIS IS THE END.... THIS MUST BE THE END... I SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID THINGS I SAID. BUT THEN HE CAN'T BLAME ALL ON ME, HE HAS FAULTS TOO!! BUT I STILL LOVE HIM A LOT... WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO? SHOULD I CALL HIM NOW? OR..."

I just told her, "Stop talking. It's been only 12 hours since he told you he wants to "think" and here you are, spinning like a crazy broken record. Going nuts. If I were him, I would not want to hear from you... AT ALL." You THINK what I said would fend her off? No. She rapid-texted me the next couple of days. And by "rapid-texting", it means I literally didn't even need to reply, she will just fire off all things she needed to say first and then I just needed to reply, "and?" and she would continue. Her thumbs are way faster than ALL my fingers.

As for me... I went to a few singles parties to meet some new people. Not good. Why? because the majority of the crowds are women... like 8 women to 1 guy. WAY aggressive women. Tight dresses, high heels, fake laughs, heavy makeup. I was way to casual comparing to them. Guys? slim-pickings. A couple of the guys came to me to introduce themselves. They are nice but not my type. One is too "baby" for me and trying too hard to be an "adult" by throwing all kinds of finance terms and whatnot to my face. I don't know crap about anything finance so.... The other guy... very eager to please but I have no idea what he was talking about the whole night. He has this huge accent and I barely understood what he was talking about. He immediately messaged me that night and asking to meet up sometimes. I had a tough time understanding him that night... and I really don't want to continue to embarrass myself by keep on asking "Sorry? pardon? " Maybe he will think I'm deaf.

There is another guy who is cute and he gave me this cute smile across the bar. Then an aggressive lady in a tight black dress just came and swooped him away to talk to her before he could come over to introduce himself. Sigh... oh well, just my luck.

Comparing myself to these women, I'm really not aggressive enough. But then, I think to myself, shouldn't love come naturally? and not like get it while it's available!! Supplies while quantities last!!? I don't know... it's like a war zone out there... it's scary.

Last thing, I'm going back home next week!! I'm so glad I could take another leave before the year's end. (Trade-off? I will need to carry all my work stuff with me the whole time... answering all work emails daily to keep up.) It's going to be a short trip, so I'm going to make the best out of it. I need to get away from the madness of work AND dating world, and hide away in the quiet yet comfortable surrounding with all my good ol' friends. I can't wait :)

And that is why... I stay gawky and funny instead (well... used to...).

Currently I'm contemplating if I should visit home later this year. I need a break from work (despite my Europe trip) because it is quite draining. I haven't seen my good friends for long time and I definitely miss the comfort of being in Vancouver. Vancouver will always be my home... my safe haven... my hiding place for me to breathe. People always say Vancouver is boring... but it's always when you leave it and then you will realize how lucky you have always been. You never learn to cherish until it leaves you. I never want to leave Vancouver but because I haven't had the best luck in getting a decent job... I have to go elsewhere. If Vancouver has a better job offer, I will be back in no time.

Anyways, I'm still thinking because going back and seeing all the familiar places where fond memories were made... will it bring tears to my eyes? or will it help me accept that things have past and that I have entered a new chapter in my life?

Decisions... decisions...

LOVE the trip. It's so refreshing to realize I haven't thought of my ex throughout the trip. Now that I'm back, it seems he is slowly disappearing in my head. It still stinks everytime I thought of him but not much pain as before. I guess seeing the world DOES help. The trip was exhausting and I almost spent ALLLLLLLL of the money in my wallet (good thing I did save enough for my train ticket to the airport!). Everything in Japan is so expensive but the good food and good shopping definitely well worth the money. Met up with a long-lost friend, who lives in Osaka, and had an amazing time also helps. When I came home, my little Corgi boy was so excited to see me! (but he looks different!! he looks older!! LOL!!)

Now I have to go back to work.... save enough... and go travel again!!

Just a taste of what I ate.... (*drool...*)

Leaving on a jet plane.... to have some much-needed fun!! I had used a big chunk of my supposedly "wedding funds" on flight tickets and hotels for this trip and I'm going to use the rest of it for shopping. Since I won't be getting married anytime soon, why not treat myself for a little trip to blow off some bitterness in me? Nothing cures a heartache better than retail-therapy and sight-see with my best friend!
