It's been a long while since I blogged.  Boyfriend is still in the States being with his parents, helping his parents recover and they are doing well and almost fully-recovered.  Just need physio-therapies every now and then.  The trip to meet his family was very fun.  His family is so friendly and welcoming.  It eased my anxiety a lot.  I realize having your boyfriend's family love + welcome is very comforting.  After my past experience, having a good relationship with your boyfriend's family is very crucial and I also realize it really doesn't need too much work.  No need to force.  It should come naturally.  They all welcomed me with open arms and I'm very grateful for it.  Traveling to his hometown alone for the first time and be with his family (who were also strangers) was very intimidating at first.  I was pretty antsy the day before flying off to see him.  I guess stepping out of my comfort zone is very intimidating .... but he comforted me the day before...

"If you don't step out of your comfort zone, you will never know how much fun there is outside waiting for you."

And he is correct about that.  He has that power on me.  He could make me "man up" and be strong.
After I came back, everything has been the same.  I might go to LA later on in the summer to meet up with him and we will come back together.  We think that by then his parents will be fully-recovered and will be back to work.

Anyways, about the picture... well, that's not THE ring.  My boyfriend told me 2 weeks ago that he would like me to let him know what kind of shape and setting.  I said why and "what shape for what?" (How dumb could I be!!! HAHAHA).  Apparently, he has been secretly looking for an engagement ring for a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He consulted his married friends and other female friends for tips but he still wasn't too sure what I will like.  He wants me to give him some hints of that I will love and cherish forever... not the type of ring when I see it I would go "WTF?!"  HAHAHA!   So in order to avoid that embarrassing WTF moment when he pops the question, he decided to just come straight up and ask for hints.

To be honest, I don't really care how many carats or whatever because as reckless and careless as I am, if I wear such a fancy ring, I would be so anxious all the time and check the ring every 5 seconds.  I might end up accidentally pop the rock off the ring setting or get the parts scratched.  For me, it's all the thoughts that count (but I still don't like a gold ring!).

I'm still trying on rings from different jewelers and see which shapes and setting, and even size will look best in my eyes.  When the sales associates say, "Will your fiance come with you next time?"  or "What is your fiance's budget?"  I'm a little embarrassed because shouldn't my boyfriend still my boyfriend if I have not received the proposal?  Isn't fiance only be called AFTER you got the ring?  I bet all these sales associates I met thought "WOW, this girl sure is desperate... she is picking her own engagement ring to FORCE her boyfriend to buy for her and coerce him to marry her."  I sure got that feeling in my head when I walked in.  Maybe it's just in my head.

Oh well... anyways, I shall wait for him to decide if he will go with my hints or go get something he likes instead.

This is a big deal to me... I was even shaking and had this stupid smile on my face when I tried on the rings "for fun".  I can't imagine what I would be like when he proposes.  :)

We had our first big argument last night.  I said something in a joking way the day before to tease him but he took it as my misunderstanding to his character.  I then took it personally of him saying my mindset is not being mature... somewhat "rudimentary".  It goes on and on.  We didn't even argue on the phone this whole time but only through texting yesterday.  He said he didn't feel he understands me.  I told him we only knew each other 4 months before he had to leave and we currently only passed 2 of the 4 months of separation.  The foundation was not solid enough and we didn't have much time to spend with each other just prior to departure.  He said that's not good enough of a reason.  Then he started to reason with me.  I am an emotional person... and I am not good at negotiating and reasoning.  I just didn't know how to counter what he said because I know he is right but at the same time, I feel he is being harsh on how he wants me to be.  I started to say things sarcastically "I will watch what I want to say to you from now.  I will filter it before coming out of my mouth."  He said he doesn't want to have a relationship where we cannot talk freely to each other and tell each other how we feel.  I want that too but I don't want the same argument again.  I am a very straightforward person.  I have no filters.  And I thought he would understand by now but now I know he is not a mind-reader and surely he didn't agree with my way of communication.  He said he is disappointed in me, doubting our relationship and how he didn't understand me.

It came to a point where I felt there was really no point in continuing this conversation.  And I asked,

"So... you don't want us anymore?"

After sent that message, my tear came down.  I shouldn't ask that question because I was so afraid to see his reply.  He paused.  My heart was pounding out of my chest but at the same time, I was so drained.  It was 2:45am at that time.

"I do want this... I want US to have a relationship where we both can say what we want and how we feel.  When we text, a lot of meaning gets lost in the mere letters on the screen."

I immediately turned on FaceTime to see him.  He saw I was crying my eyes out and he was quite shocked.

"I still love you, don't worry."  That's the first thing he said on FaceTime.   We both agreed that texting can lead to misunderstanding.  If possible, we should facetime or skype instead, and leave the texting at other times where these 2 options are not possible.  He feels we are both getting a little depressed to be apart for some time.

After all these, it kind of shakes me up that I have to be more strong and independent.  He said he doesn't want me to rely on him and be too dependent.  He wants to build a family while both him and I are strong and brave examples for our kids.

I start to question if I am the person for him.... or the kind of girl he is looking for.  He wants a "business partner-like" woman, where she has complete focus on building her work and having a strong sense of direction of where she wants to be.  I, on the other hand, am a typical Pisces... where I want to be protected and follow my man through thick and thin to support him... building a family based on my love for him and care for my children.  Career and other things will have to take a back seat.

This revelation makes me sad but at the same time, I finally know what I want.  I haven't talked to him the entire day today yet.  He didn't go online and I didn't chase him.  I think after last night, I can feel he  starts to wonder if I'm the one he is looking for and I start to doubt if I am someone suitable for him.

I don't know how things will go.  I will take it day by day.  Tomorrow will mark the 6th month of being together.

It's Christmas Eve here in Hong Kong.  Wish you all a very merry Christmas.

My boyfriend had gone back home in the beginning of December for his dad's surgery but we have been in contact a lot.  Thanks to Facetime, Whatsapp, Skype, emails, videos, etc... we basically know what each other is doing and also being able to see what's going on in his life.  Rest assure, I didn't force him to do this... my phone has been filled with more than 500 photos from him since his departure and videos of his everyday.  He showed me his neighborhood while taking morning walks with Facetime.  I have met his parents through Skype and just the other night, he gave me a little impromptu jazz session just before I go to bed~  He actually can play saxophone!!!!!  (I melted~)  If it wasn't these technologies, I don't know what to do.  Since he is a techie, he set up everything for me before he left so I'm "well-connected" already.

He is already planning what to do for my week there in mid March (when I haven't even bought my tickets yet!).  He is already planning WHERE to eat!!  It was very sweet of him and I miss him dearly.

Gotta go!  It's Christmas Eve's gathering with my friends tonight.  Have a lovely Christmas, everyone!

I wish you all LOVE and JOY

Was planning to squeeze a little getaway with boyfriend before he leaves.  We planned to go to Okinawa, Japan for a 3 days 2 nights mini trip.  Hot damn... it was more than USD1200!!  Needless to say, we got to cancel.

Soooooo disappointed.  I shouldn't have worked up my expectations...  I find a lot of the times, I tend to work up such a high expectation and dream about a perfect scenario... but then when things didn't work out or go as planned, I will fall hard on my own disappointment.

I really need to change this tendency of mine.  I got to keep everything light so when it doesn't go according to plan, I wouldn't be bummed out.

Boyfriend is now thinking of a mini LOCAL trip instead...  sigh....

My boyfriend finally bought his flight ticket.  Originally he wanted to buy a return ticket for returning in April... but then after discussing with his parents, he feels it's best to get a one-way ticket.  I hate the thought of one-way ticket.  It just makes me sad.  But then I have to remind myself, this is the correct thing to do, this is a correct thing to do, this is a correct thing to do...

He is leaving on the 7th of December (as his father's surgery is mid December) and he said he is still planning to come back in April, given his father's condition is more stable by then.  He said if he get a one-way ticket and when it is OK, he can return earlier and just buy a ticket and go.

Anyways, I'm trying to see when my schedule allows for me to go visit him in Phoenix.  Most likely in mid March because my best friend's wedding is in early March... so as a maid of honor, I've got to be here.

I think having a long distance relationship, it's best and crucial to have a return date to look forward to.  I failed last time because I didn't even have a return date.  This time, I want him to give me a time of return... even though it might be tentative, but at least I have something we both can look forward to.

I just hope his father can recover very very soon.

Hi, I'm still here.  And my boyfriend is still here... not physically besides me but he is still in town.  He is now planning to leave mid November but he has been trying to delay in booking his flight ticket.  I told him that we are doing the right thing and this will be a test for us.  He said he dreaded to go back home because the unforeseeable return date really upsets him.  I told him, at most, it will take 4-6 months for his dad to fully recover.  I told him, let this time apart be a time for him to think things through and think about our future together.

He then said, "If I am coming back to Hong Kong, it will solely because of you.  There is nothing else strong enough to make me come back to work here."  I am very touched but at the same time, I don't even know how to react.  I don't even know if having him to return back to HK will be a good idea for his career as he doesn't know Chinese.  I know he wants to go to San Francisco but my work is tying me down as well.  I have no one in San Francisco.... no friends, no family.  He did think about that for me, he said, "SF will be like halfway from your home town Vancouver, and also halfway from my home town Phoenix.  It will be a good place for work as well."

I guess in order for me to move to SF for him, it will be after we get married or something.  Right now, it's just too soon to tell.  Although we are going very steadily, this temporary separation will serve as a good test to see how much we want to be with each other.

I love him.  He always loves to make me smile and very caring.  We become very silly together... laughing at the most stupid jokes and making each other laughs.  He has also met my parents and my best friends.  They all like him (Hallelujah!).  I have been trying to keep a clear mind and try not to let the rush of passion and novelty blindsight me.  He is... so far, so good

I just hope everything will work out.

By the way, we did pull that shopping cart thing once.  And he actually named his company "Panda" and his nickname is Bear.  This picture is like a symbol of us.  Yes, we are THAT silly together.

Although he has not decided when he will have to leave yet, I have been mentally prepping myself...

P.S. - We are official boyfriend-girlfriend now.  According to him, I'm his "potential wife".  :)  He is the kind of person who doesn't take relationship too lightly.  He said he will make it "official" when he sees me as someone he will marry.  He just cannot call someone his "girlfriend" if he cannot see marrying.  Let's hope that he will do what he says he would!

It's been a while since I blogged.  Yes, things are going well and stable with me and C.  We have the same strong feeling towards each other and we enjoy each other's company.  We can make each other laugh and he is very caring at the same time.

But knowing the fact that he might leave sometime soon makes me upset...  It's like, why my relationship always get torn by long distance?  He might need to go back to the States to see his dad who is recovering from a surgery.  His mom wants him to go back to help.  He is depressed as he doesn't want to go but at the same time, he feels the need to be with his parents at this difficult time.  He fears that he might not be able to come back once he left... or he wouldn't know WHEN he can come back.  To me, equally sad.  Of course I never want him to leave but at the same time, I can't be selfish to keep him by my side and let his parents face this time alone.  We are now trying to find a compromise in between.  I just hope that whatever this is, it can be a win-win situation.

We are now taking it day by day, enjoying it while we can.  Very bittersweet each time we see each other.  He is avoiding to face the fact that he needs to go because he will get very very upset.  I sure as hell don't want to bring it up because it will make me tear up.

Feeling sad and at the same time knowing we need to do the right thing, is killing us both.

Yes, you read it correctly.  Almost.  Close.  I'm ALMOST in love.

I have been going out with the marketing guy, C.  I caved and met up with him before mid August... as I said I would in my last post.  After that first date, we have been going out almost every 2-3 days.  He is a sweetie.  I think because he is bigger  (I wouldn't say he is chubby but somehow just big...), I feel like I'm hanging around with a ginormous teddy bear.  I feel safe and protected.  He is silly and loves to make me laugh... yet at the same time, he is very dedicated on his business.  He loves to hug me and likewise for me.  We text each other every single day... asking each other how their day goes... what they are doing... what they are seeing throughout the day... It was sweet.  I haven't felt like this for a long time.

I told him that we've only met each other online a little less than a month ago... went out on our first date less than 2 weeks ago... but I feel like we are really comfortable with each other as if we have known each other for a long time.  He said he felt exactly the same... it's weird.  A lot of my friends said I shouldn't rush into this relationship but take time to know each other first.  I guess they feel that I'm not as patient as I should be.  I understand this relationship is still too early... too green... but I feel like I want to be with him.  I like to be with him.  He has stopped responding to his matches on eHarmony and planning to take off his profile... "I just don't think I care to look any further now that I've met you..."  He said he wants to discover more about me before moving to the next step because he feels if he moves this forward, he has to see his girlfriend as his potential wife as well.  If not, he wouldn't want to proceed.  When we hang out, he asks me a lot of the future questions... like what's my take on kids... how many kids I want... my take on marriage... where to live after married....etc.  We are more or less on the same page.

What made me feel a little iffy is... if we are all compatible and if he is as crazy about me as he said he is.... then what are we waiting for?  My friends said I shouldn't dive head-over-heels for him just yet and still need to date other people because I shouldn't take him seriously until we are exclusive.  Everyone is telling me to take this relationship casually for now...

I don't know.  If I take him casually, I might as well just take him as a normal friend.  What we are feeling for each other is way more than just normal friends.  So, I honestly don't know how to be "casual" with him...  He is just too sweet~

And yes... I finally smile from the heart now.   :)

I recently have been introduced to eHarmony by a friend.  She sounded like one of those cheesy testimonies on eH's TV ads.  She is a flight attendant, so you know she cannot look shit-faced.   However, she has been someone rather luck-less in love.  The guys she dated always had commitment-phobia.  She decided to give eH a try, and she met 2 guys who went NUTS about her.  Freaks?  No, they are good-looking men with very decent jobs (she showed me the pictures of them going on dates... definitely NOT freaks or butt-uglies).  One is a realtor (who has quite a few properties of his own) and the other one is an owner of a logistic company.  I always tell her, "you lucky bastard..."
Now, she is dating these 2 guys simultaneously and the realtor completely smothered her with love.  CRAZY about her.  The guys are literally competing for her.  Now, she is just down to who she will settle with now.

As an unfortunate friend of hers, she urged me to give it a try.  And I did.  I was on this service for almost a month now.  I was pretty discouraged because the matches I got were... no where NEAR the hotness of my friend's potential bfs!!  NOWHERE NEAR!!  I whined to my friend and she looked at my list of matches and laughed too.  So unfair... hahaha~  Anyways, just when I was completely fed up with eH and wanted to end my subscription, 2 new matches were delivered to me.

One of them in marketing and the other one is in finance.  They are the ones who didn't go through the "guided questions" and directly mailed me.   They seem quite sincere and genuine... online.  I wouldn't say they are hot but at my age, hotness doesn't equal good-heart or attentiveness anymore.  I need someone who is caring and genuine.  They are not really my "type" per se... (but no one is... ever...because it's too surreal!  Think ARMIE HAMMER...Armie, how can you be so gorgeous but MARRIED?!)

The marketing guy asked me out and I'm going out with him mid August (because work is a bitch and I need to finish a huge project first before anything... and I also want to mentally-prep myself).  I was surprised that he is willing to postpone for me... I figured if it's an online date thing, people wouldn't want to waste time...)  I'm so out of the game, I don't even know what to expect or what to say on first date (even though we have been emailing back and forth for 2 weeks already)... especially someone I met online!  In my mind, I have been thinking of a lot of the horrible crimes or scams of online dating.   I always need to prep myself for the worst-case scenario.  Meet at the most crowded places... in the mid day only... don't go home with the person... don't drink your beverage after you leave your table... etc.

I also need to prep myself for not falling head-over-heels for anyone.  It's too dangerous.  What if we don't work out when I have worked up such a lovely mental picture of "us" together (Sorry... I'm a Pisces... I can't help it...)?  What if we went on several dates but he finds me not good enough?  Therefore, I told my friend that I'm going to play "distance" this time.  I will not let myself get any expectations up.  The higher the expectations, the harder the fall if it doesn't work out.  Been there, done that.

I hope this date is a pleasant one.  What ever happens, happens.  Wish me luck.

I have been living under loud loud renovation noises for over a month already.  I'm going insane soon.  Both my neighbors... upstairs AND down were moving out, their flats are now BOTH renovating.  At work, the building itself is doing some renovations as well.  I'm going crazy soon.  Until I find my peace of mind... or at least they stop the renovation process.... I will be back.  I can't even seem to go through a day without feeling sooooooooo irritated and sooooooooo draining these days.  So, apologies if I have been hiding in my shell for a bit.  I can't think straight... with these heavy drilling and hammering noises.  I guess, that's the fun of living in Hong Kong.

I'm about to bite someone...

One of my absolute favorite songs.  I tried to find it for a few years but I just couldn't seem to have any success in getting the CD.  Either the imported CD site sold out or they had her albums but just not the CD with this song.

Then I gave up... and completely forgot about this song for like 2 years.

Yesterday, this song came up randomly when I was browsing Youtube for a clip for my homework.

When you keep on searching, it will not appear.  Just when you have completely given up, it will come back to you unexpectedly.

(Now I wish I could understand Portuguese...)

Have I mentioned that I went to see my tarot reader a few weeks ago?  I went to get a reading on my career because lately, it's been quite shitty.  I've been pulling my hair out every single day because it seems NOTHING can go smoothly... there's ALWAYS something wrong.  The fortune-teller assures me I have chosen the right career path and I'm meant to be in this industry (FYI, if you are thinking of going into fashion/garments, you really need to think twice before you put your foot into the door.  It's NOT as glamorous as people have imaged and definitely not as fun as the movies are depicting!).  Anyways, I have been yelled by my customer for things that weren't even my fault.  Since I'm in charge, I get the blame.  Oh well... the cards said I need to slowly accumulate... "drip by drip" (The card actually had a picture of water dripping little by little into a well!)  MY GOD...

Then, I figured, since I'm here, why not a reading on my non-existent love life?   I swear that I wasn't even planned to ask about love because I heard if everything is still status quo, no need to ask.  And I ended up asking...

I couldn't remember precisely what cards I got but I remembered the fortune-teller's expression when she opened the whole spread.  ALL SWORDS.  She said, "wow... all swords.  It means you are way too analytical of everything around you."  I got NINE OF SWORDS this time.  She said this card is not a good card to get because there is still this massive pain in me.  I disagreed, "Well, last time you did a reading for me, I had TEN OF SWORDS!  I think I'm getting better.... one less sword!! HAHA!"  She laughed.  She said I have to right attitude and she believes slowly, my cards will start to rid SWORDS and will have more positive cards in the spread.

The reason I have so much swords in my spread, she explained, is I am fencing myself off to ANY outside factors, be it new people, new environments, or even new opportunities.  It's like I'm frozen in a  block of ice.  People can see me, but they can't touch me.  In another words, I've been scarred and I'm afraid people will wound me again.  Now, the cards's advice to me is I need to break out of my shield.  I can't hide myself just because I am afraid to get hurt again.

She said in the cards, she can see that there are potential guys trying to approach me but as soon as they sense the bitterness and sorrow in me, they head the other way.   (Wow... maybe my bitterness was really overpowering... like a skunk walking outside on the sidewalk and still stinks up the whole entire house!!)  She said I am getting better but I need to open up a lot more in order to welcome people in my life.  Putting fence all around me is not going to help at all.

It is wayyyyyyyyyy harder to do.  As soon as there are guys looking at me or even try to make a conversation with me, I will be like (in my head, of course), "WHAT?!  What do you want?  What are you trying to do?  What's your motive?  Are you trying to steal something from me?  Why are you being so nice??!! Don't you sweet-talk me.  I don't buy that bullshit."  See? It's like I have an uncontrollable defense mechanism...   She suggested I should STOP analyzing... just go with the flow.  Don't be so over-protective of myself.

This is real challenge.  I don't even know if I will EVER completely open up to the way I used to.  Pouring your guts out to someone takes a lot of trust.  I used to have that trust but I don't seem to have it anymore.  And I really don't think I will ever regain that.  I know even if I ever meet a guy, I'm going to keep some distance because "the only constant in life is change".  No one can guarantee they can stand by you forever.

Nonetheless, I will still try to make a difference in me.  I think if I put some dedication in opening myself,  I might be able to shed some bitterness.  I know I eventually can do that... but it just takes time.

Didn't realize I have not blogged for more than a month.  There were so many things happened and still happening (didn't realize Blogger's interface has changed neither!) ... mainly BIG THINGS.  I think these mark a brand new chapter in my life.

My best friend is finally getting married... (Remember the one I told you who was with a lover while her boyfriend was at work?... yeah, she is getting married.  And the lover?  He is no longer in the picture.)  I'm going to be her maid of honor.  I'm thinking there will be plenty of things I need to take care of with her once she has decided on the venue.  So much stuff we need to consider for a wedding really threw me off on the wedding thing... It made me think twice about getting married too...

My other best friend is finally dating "steadily"... (Remember the one who her dentist boyfriend treated her like shit? .... yeah, she has a boyfriend now!)  And FYI, it was not the same dentist guy... but now an engineer.  This guy treated her like a princess and she has never been more happier and in love.  I'm really happy for her.  She is thinking of introducing me to her boyfriend's 2 good friends... both engineers.   They are very decent but.... they are in Toronto... *sigh... what's the point...*  I'll still keep my mind open because you never know, right?

Another very close friend of mine just told me she is expecting!!  I'm going to be an aunt!!   She is thinking of giving birth in Hong Kong instead of in London.  Weird... but she said she wants to be close to her family so they can help her and whatnot.  In London, only her and her husband, and they both feel it's too scary as they are both first-time parent.  YAY!!

2 of my friends (not as close friends but...FRIENDS) became new mommies in May.  2 gorgeous little baby boys!

As for me... I've decided to take on a huge project.  I'm considering buying an apartment.  The biggest purchase I have done so far in my life was pretty much my trip to Europe but this... this is like a kazillion times that.  The moment I decided to take on this "project", I feel like I have this ginormous burden placed onto my shoulders but at the same time, I feel like I'm finally a legit "adult".  My parents were very happy that I decided to take on this project because they figured I should really put my money into good use, instead of draining away bit by bit, going shopping.

I feel that I should start really planning for my future.  I might not find a decent guy who can take care of me... even if someone who can, I have learned NOT to be dependent on him.  I need something that is my own... that can secure my future.  Worst case scenario, I at least have a roof on top of my head!  When I was discussing this plan with a good friend this last weekend, she said, she has already bought a tiny apartment in Vancouver!!   With the exact same reason!  Then I realize a few of my friends are already buying houses and apartments... and here I was, only thinking if I should get the new Rebecca Minkoff bag... At this age, I think we really need to find something that can call our own.

But.... I will have to say goodbye to my beloved shopping malls and VIP cards...

Oh well... I need to find a decent (with potential) and affordable place!!  ... and for god's sake... the down payment!!  I don't know how I can get this together....

momojae

Work have been overwhelming... client after client... and then my brother came to visit... and then my best friend will fly here from Toronto for a very short trip and we will meet up this weekend. I can't wait for the irrational shopping begins! When 2 major shopaholics meet, the world will explode or something... Consider that as a warning.

She has been trying to lure me to go back to Canada saying, "I just met some really nice guys through my guy friend (who is trying to date her) and they are looking for a girl that's EXACTLY like you." Whoa... EXACTLY, eh? What are the chances?! HAHA!! Jokes aside, I think it's just a tactic that guy is trying to pull. He wants to date my best friend so what's better than hooking up her single friend with his single friends? Then, everyone can double-date...and happy in love... blah blah blah...

I don't have high hopes for that... as a matter of fact, I have no expectations now. Nothing. No expectations, no disappointments. And I have been feeling fine. A guy can't really guarantee my happiness... hell, I can't even guarantee my own happiness, so why am I depending a guy to give me THE happiness I'm hoping for? Been there... Done that... And failed. It was just a wrong way to think. Having a boyfriend is good but life goes on if you don't have one. You still got to live, right? So far, the guys I have met, the good ones are either taken... or they are players. The not-so-good ones...mmm... not so good. Oh well, I still believe things happen the way they meant to happen.

Don't force it. Just let it be. Better yet, just let me be.

(By the way, I got over the infatuation of my client already~ It was quick.)
momojae
I don't think having a crush on your client is ever professional... but he is just gorgeous!!

I feel embarrassed to have a crush, and even more embarrassed to ADMIT that I have an infatuation on my client. I have met him once before but back then, I was still with my ex, so I didn't think too much into it. During this meeting a few days ago, we were discussing his buying trip to Europe and all the styles he saw on the trip.... and showing me all the samples he bought....

The whole time, I was looking at him thinking, "Can I travel with you next time when you are on your buying trip?"... "Do you have a girlfriend?" ..."Are you gay? (Let's hope so, then I can focus back to work)"... "(to self) Do I look OK? Anything stuck in my teeth? mascara gunk in my eyes?" It was embarrassing... (and I feel myself blushing NOW for admitting all these...)

Although we emailed each other for work everyday for 2 years, it's all business. He is in NZ so I really don't think it's going to work anyways. Besides, with his charms and good-looks, I bet a lot of NZ girls are having a crush on him.

Oh well... let's be realistic, this is yet another infatuation. It will be over soon. I give it a week or two.

Stupid sudden weather changes... I'm sick. Be back up on my feet when I kick this fever/cold/flu/headache/bodyache/grogginess...

Wasted my whole sunny weekend in bed... HATE it to be in bed when it's sunny out... and rainy when you need to go out...

This past week was eventful... in other people's life.

A wedding. A long-time friend, personally not too close, but known her since Kindergarten, got married to her boyfriend of 6 or 7 years. All I could say was, "It's about time." I think they started dating around the same time when I first started dating my ex. They went into a long-distance for some years but he ended up keeping his promise and marry her. Some people can walk down the aisle together. Some people walk straight down the drain. (Don't worry, I'm not sad. Just self-pitying.)

A divorce. A family friend just announced his divorce to his wife of.... less than a year. He met his now-ex-wife right after his former girlfriend of 8 years left him, when they were about to get engaged. His ex-girlfriend felt he couldn't give her the financial security she "deserves" so she left him. Mind you, he was and is an architect so I highly doubt he was on welfare. Then, he met this now-ex-wife. They quickly got married after knowing each other for a year. I knew this move was a rebound. It was too fast and too sudden. Then, came the divorce. Again, suddenly. Apparently, his wife left because again, she thought he would be wealthy enough to do all kinds of stuff for her. She returned all the wedding gifts to him and said she won't be needing those. I mean, come on now! Didn't you open your eyes when you meet him? He was the exact same position as he is now... how can you not know? I just think they both are ridiculous. The guy wanted a rebound. The girl wanted a sugar daddy... credentials and wealth. She must think every architect can make millions.

A gambler boyfriend. A friend flew to HK for a visit. I haven't seen her since college. I asked her how come she didn't travel with her boyfriend this time. She said she is on a break with him. I found out her boyfriend is a gambler... online poker gambler, to be exact. He makes his living just playing online poker. I was like "WTF?!? Is this even a real job??" She said he could make a living easily ... better than what she is making at an advertising company... working 12-14 hours a day. I was in shock and this is really my first time hearing someone who can actually make a living through gambling!! She said he rarely leaves home and every word that comes out of his mouth was blunt and somewhat hurtful. I asked her why stay with this person? She just looked at me and said, "You and I were in the position... being with a boyfriend for 4-5 years and ended up being left behind for another girl. I'm lucky to find him. I don't want to be alone at 30's. I feel too much pressure from my family and seeing other friends getting married and getting pregnant ... I want that." Poor girl. I asked her what happened when he keeps on losing at his hand of poker? He might be lucky enough now to win and make a living... but luck can come and go... then what happened? Will he get a job? She said she don't know and that's why she wanted a temporary break from him to figure things out. I don't even know what to say. I'm not the best example for her to follow, so I just kept my mouth shut.

Anyways, I sometimes feel better being single. At least, all I have to deal with is myself.
